Explore Coaching Models – (OUTCOME)
Why coaching Models? The reality is that there are so many available and many speak to a similar navigation process. It does come down to language and what will make sense for the Coachee. Coaching Models offer a framework from which a Coach can lean on and enable the Coach as the accountability partner to the Coachee.
I appreciated the sessions that we have had with CC, where the focus was on building a strong foundation and understanding of Core Competencies, working our way through Flow and then into Outcome. It certainly affirms that Coaching is really about something that we embody and when we understand the foundation and flow, using a Model becomes a natural way of being with our Coachee. This is where we are able to apply a model for the Coachee to gain deeper meaning into SELF and what their WORK might be through reflecting on past patterns, seeing the situation with fresh eyes, and exploring what is the future they envision and want and what will get them there.
The session introduced us to 3 Coaching Models. Each with its own way of creating awareness and direction for the Coachee. The 3 Models we explored:
FUEL Model

The FUEL model looks at a Frame/Focus of where the Coachee would want to begin which leads to the Understand, what are the current challenges, and what is working well. The Explore is an opportunity for the Coachee to look to the future and what their desired state or outcome would look like. It is moving from current to what is desired and then the Layout plan on the “what” /”how” will get the Coachee there with the Coach setting key milestones along the way. This model allows the Coachee to take the lead in their own thinking while the coaching assists the Coachee with a framework that will navigate them from one place to the next in alignment with their desired outcome.
OSKAR Model
The OSKAR model is known as a solutions focus approach.

The OSKAR Model looks at what the Coachee wants to achieve in short term, medium term, and how each fit into the longer term goal or outcome that the Coachee wants to achieve. The Scaling looks at where the Coachee is, from a scale of 1 to 10 in reference to the Outcome. The Know-how and Resources is something that really inspires me, it re-affirms that we all have the strengths and resources we need to succeed, and as a Coach we support the Coachee unpacking their opportunities through acknowledging internal and external resources available to make their outcome a reality. The Affirm and Action looks at actions for the Coachee to move forward and also offers an opportunity for the Coachee to reflect on steps that he/she may have already taken. Review and Progress, this for me speaks to the importance of pausing and reflecting, on successes and actions at different milestones. It gives the Coachee an opportunity to celebrate their steps towards the desired Outcome.
GROW Model
The GROW Model is one that I have used extensively and more familiar with, I lean into its simplicity and effectiveness. The enhanced version is referenced as the Growth Model.
It does feel more direct towards looking at the now and end collectively in one Coaching session.
The way I personally resonate with this Model is acknowledging that I want to complete my CC certification in the allocated time given. By the end of this blog I want to have a action plan to achieve my goal. The benefit of completing my certification will add additional credibility to my coaching career aligned to my purpose which is offering Coaching to a Diverse group of Leaders who want to embody an approach of connecting head, heart and hand with their leadership. My current reality is that after I have completed this blog I have 8 more to go with about 4 more weeks left to complete all deliverables. My reality is that my day’s are full, however I can set aside 2 hours a day to work on my deliverables. Time seems to be eluding me. I have tried documenting the actions and allocating time to each task. This has worked for me in the past and inspires me as I complete each action. It feels like chipping away at what was once overwhelming to what now seems very possible. I could replica this as an option. I will replica this as my action plan and work on each step at a time with a commitment of 90min every day.

I appreciated writing this blog especially since I have been feeling very overwhelmed with lagging behind on my submissions. I do feel lighter now and the goal ahead feels a lot more achievable.
